My first two years of teaching were in a middle school science classroom on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Given the school's rural locale, I learned to create engaging activities for students with minimal resources and maximal improvisation.

With Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute –a tutoring and writing center in disguise– I get the pleasure of working with students in a variety of in and out- of- school contexts where the focus is on creative writing and storytelling.
