3D Printing in an Elementary Library (Poster Session)
Have you ever wondered how to incorporate 3D design and printing into your library program? Come learn about how one media specialist (with the help of some pretty brilliant 5th graders) conquered her fears of the 3D printer. Students learned about 3D design and completed two projects. The first project was an object that was printed on our Makerbot Replicator Mini. The second project was their "dream room" where they unleashed their creativity and came up with some truly spectacular designs.

Student Centered Storytelling
This session explores the methods used by the Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute (MOI), a Twin Cities tutoring and writing nonprofit in disguise, to guide students in creating and broadcasting their original stories. MOI volunteers and staff partner with teachers, students, and literary and media professionals to share student stories through professional publications, in-house chapbooks, and podcasts. We focus on placemaking to prime students' creative pumps, incorporating technology to drive engagement, and broadcasting the fruits of students' labor through a variety of media reaching beyond the classroom. This session is recommended for professionals feeling constrained by minimal resources who are open to creative approaches to driving youth engagement and academic success via youth centered curricula focusing on storytelling and creative writing. MOI's creative writing programs serve over 1400 Twin Cities K-12 youth annually, join us and see what our programs can do for you!
